Welcome to Hedon Haven Community Trust, working as, HHCT.

We are shortly to become a charity with a passion to bring life back to the land next to the old Hedon Haven canal, opposite the Haven Arms Public House.

Objectives

The restoration, preservation, development and promotion, for the benefit of the public, of the land and facilities in the area known as Hedon Haven.

To develop a space and facilities for local communities, groups, individuals and charitable organisations to come together in a safe environment to encourage the opportunity to learn new skills, promote personal growth and development, offer new experiences and contribute to the growth of the charity.

We have set up this charity to encourage children and adults across the local communities to participate in a range of outdoor activities supporting them through play, practical work and discussion groups to understand the importance of nature and how they can play a part in bringing nature back to life.

This will be achieved through working with groups of people at the Hedon Haven site, using a range of outdoor activities, supporting them to have a better knowledge of how to live in the natural surroundings. Alongside this we want to set up a wellbeing centre to help people struggling with their mental health by bring them closer to nature and showing them that even the smallest creature on this planet needs help from someone else to grow and thrive in this world.

We are developing relationships with other organisations and charities such as, local Girl Guides, Men in Sheds, Tourettes Syndrome Inclusion in Communities and have created a partnership with Hedon Scout Group. We believe our role will be to facilitate:

• Improving and nurturing an area of land that has been neglected

• Building a group of interested volunteers

• Working towards establishing areas of interest upon Hedon Haven from willow beds to bug hotels and woodland preservation.

• Supporting groups and individuals to participate in and hold a range of events that will benefit local people.

By offering charities and interest groups the use of an outdoor space, which many do not have access to and offering our experienced team to support the local children and adults to expand their life experiences. At HHCT we are determined to organise regular larger scale events, where charities are welcome to attend and fundraise thus allowing them to raise their own public profiles whilst supporting each other.

If you are interested in being part of this exciting new charity either as a volunteer or a group that is interested in exploring the possibilities of working in nature; then please do get in touch.
